Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives.

Specific Job Overview

The Platform Architect for Enterprise Reservations is a leadership and technical role that works collaboratively with others in the development of platform strategy and implementation roadmaps for a specific platform that align with business strategy and established architecture standards and roadmaps.

This role contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in Information Technology (IT) for an Application Platform that supports the MVW Enterprise. Platform Architects manage day-to-day solution requirements and architecture while also thinking long-term about the application’s position within the platform and the business. They work with Business Analysts to drive business requirement gathering and Platform Engineers to review/quality check technical designs.


• Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy

• Manages business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress, and results

• Responds to, solves, and makes decisions on business requests that have broad department impact and/or moderate risk

• Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the organization

• Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department, and/or business results Directs work of non-management staff. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams

Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

• acting in a consultative fashion to implement programs impacting the organization

• assisting in the development and communication of organizational goals

• achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility

• Performs other duties as appropriate Specific Contributions and Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with Enterprise Architecture in the development of platform / application strategy and implementation roadmaps using enterprise architectural standards.

• Engages Enterprise Architecture team for IT architecture standard management and reference architecture review

• MVW leverages the TOGAF standard for an Enterprise Architecture methodology and framework. Platform Architects work collaboratively with the Enterprise Architecture team (EA) in the development of various artifacts and proof of concepts. EA is accountable for deliverables of Architecture Approach Documents and Position Papers. Platform Architects and Platform Engineers are accountable for the development of Engineering Design Specification documents.

• Works collaboratively with Platform and Application Engineers to translate business requirements into technical solution requirements and assists with cost estimation efforts

• Works with Platform Owners to review/develop supplier work orders

• Provides oversight and approval of supplier developed designs and test plans • Works closely with Platform Owners to establish project management measures and delivery requirements

• College degree: technology based, engineering, computer science, or statistical/math sciences or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree

• Approximately 12 to 15 years of experience in application development and technology engineering groups with progressive experience in driving application strategy and development teams

• Familiarity with The Open Group TOGAF is a plus

• Able to exhibit a progression of increasingly complex applications and successfully lead and deliver complex IT projects as well as execute global staff management responsibilities.

• Technical knowledge and experience in managing service delivery on infrastructure and application platforms and custom development or coding languages

• Travel, Entertainment, or Hospitality background with transformation experience desired

Additional Skills:

AWS Architect certification preferred

AWS Lambda experience preferred

Aurora and Dynamo experience preferred

Experience working with the AWS stack preferred
