Position Summary
As a member of the professional staff, the Manager contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support,
Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to
assist in the decision‐making process.


Specific Job Summary

As a member of the Marriott Vacations Worldwide (“MVW”) Tax Provision, Compliance & Transformation team, the Manager, Tax ensures MVW compliance with the standards of ASC 740 and US federal and state filing
obligations for both corporate and timeshare association entities. This includes managing certain aspects of the MVW global provision, tax filings, tax audits and notices as well as working with internal and external resources
to support and document MVW’s position on US GAAP to tax treatment both for US and non‐US jurisdictions. The Manager will also assist the team in automation and implementing tax systems and processes to
build a world class tax department.


Expected Contributions
 Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.
 Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non‐routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
 Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non‐management staff.
 Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
 identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.
 providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point‐of-contact or problem resolution.
 participating in setting department operating plans.
 recognizing and celebrating team successes.
 achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.
 Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to
improve and increase skills and knowledge.
 Performs other duties as appropriate.


Specific Expected Contributions
 Manages certain aspects of the MVW quarterly and annual tax provisions and tax return compliance and assists AVP and Directors with the global provision and US income and condominium tax return processes.
 Assists AVP and Directors with income tax audits and notices.
 Reviews tax accounting and return analysis prepared by external and internal sources for accuracy and completeness.
 Manages US GAAP to US or local tax reconciliations working with internal and external resources to ensure completeness and accuracy for the Company’s tax provision and tax returns.
 Monitors, researches, and evaluates accounting and tax legislation impacting MVW and drafts memos or technical memos to support MVW’s position.
 Coordinates with accounting team to ensure entity accounting is accurate for tax sensitive accounts.
 Assists AVP and Directors with tax automation and process improvement projects.
 Ensures internal and external team workflow and timelines are met.
 Ensures adherence to corporate tax accounting policies and procedures to proactively identify and rectify areas of improvement creating an atmosphere of strong controls and compliance.
 Communicates best practices to facilitate effective and efficient accounting guidelines.
 Develops training and reporting to ensure strong focus and understanding of business factors.
 Performs similar duties as required.


Candidate Profile
Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:
Generally, a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.


Specific Candidate Profile


Education
 Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or related discipline.
 CPA or Master of Taxation preferred.


Experience
 At least five (5) years of relevant corporate tax experience with either a public accounting firm or within a
corporate tax department with a similar size organization, or a combination of experience.
 Solid understanding and experience with federal tax compliance, federal tax accounting and provision, tax
analysis, and tax research.
 Experience with using automated tax provision systems (e.g. OneSource Tax Provision) preferred.
 Experience leading and managing tax initiatives.

 Proven history of consistently delivering results.
 Timeshare, real estate development, or hospitality experience preferred.
