Generic Position Summary 

As a senior member of the professional staff, contributes expertise in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support function and/or discipline objectives. Works with a high degree of independence, developing short-term goals for own department(s) and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes. Is a recognized authority in area of specialty, often serving as discipline interface with other areas. 

Specific Job Summary 

The VP, Business Intelligence (BI) is responsible for creating an insights-led culture and overseeing the development and implementation of both the technology and the team required to build a world class BI organization. 

This leader will liberate data across the enterprise -- giving decision makers across the organization rapid access to the data required to make smarter, data-informed decisions. They will also oversee our current Customer Insights and Analytics group, as well grow the team to include Modelers, Architects, Business Analysts, Data Analysts etc. required for delivering actionable insights across the enterprise. 

This position is charged with driving business growth through actionable insights gathered from customer data and will require experience lending credibility and expertise in a change management environment. 

The candidate must be able to translate complex analytical concepts into practical terms, motivate people throughout the organization to adopt new business practices and technologies, and clearly articulate the impact of BI on the company's performance

- using appropriate MVW interviewing tools to hire the best managers available from inside or outside.

Specific Expected Contributions 

  • Articulate and implement a recommendation plan on what technology, architecture, and team will be needed to develop the division and provide recommendations and or engineered solutions to execute on the plan.
  • Collaborate with business unit leadership to create self-service tools, systems and team members that can deliver rapid, easily understandable visualization of data, benchmarks, and KPIs of both the overall health of the business, as well as for product and on and offline initiatives.
  • Roll out a comprehensive unilateral survey, customer experience feedback platform that allows us to connect with our customers at any point on their journey.
  • Help identify strengths and development opportunitieswithin the business lines and wider organization.
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of customer business needs and workflow.
  • Provide management and oversight of the current market research, and marketing analytics team

Generic Candidate Profile 

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: 

Typically a senior position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines as well as associate and/or organizational management experience. College degree required. Advance degree or professional certification may also be required.

Specific Candidate Profile  

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or Mathematics required.
  • Ph.D preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in business intelligence in a large matrix organization, with a history of progressively taking on roles with increasing responsibility.
  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive management experience, including 5+ years in a Sr. Leadership role.
  • Proven track record of translating business problems into analytical framework, developing analytical plans for answering complex problems and delivering analytical insights.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational and communication skills.
  • Preferred experience in both fast-paced startup(s) as well as large enterprises who have created solutions at scale.
  • Innovative thinker with intellectual curiosity, with an eye to developing new solutions and tools.
  • Self-motivated, well-rounded, analytical self-starter with ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, Agile team environment with aggressive deadlines, regular releases and multiple priorities.
  • Sound understanding of BI best practices/ methodologies; experience with relational structures, structured query language (SQL), data warehouse and reporting techniques.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and data visualization concepts (i.e. Cognos, Spotfire, Tableau, QlikView or similar).
  • Dimensional data modeling and understanding of OLAP.
