Generic Position Summary   

As a senior member of the professional staff, contributes expertise in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support function and/or discipline objectives. Works with a high degree of independence, developing short-term goals for own department(s) and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes. Is a recognized authority in area of specialty, often serving as discipline interface with other areas.  

Specific Job Summary  

The VP, Brand Management is responsible for creating a strong brand presence in the market that effectively differentiates our brand from competitors and creates affinity for our company's products and services.  

As brand visionary, this leader will continuously seek innovative ways to enhance the brand experience in service to acquiring and retaining customers. They will be tasked with increasing brand awareness; measuring and managing brand affinity; driving campaigns and initiatives that reinforce our brand message; and successfully identifying and implementing strategic partnerships with other brands to enhance the consumer experience and elevate our brand reputation.  

As brand guardian, he/she will be responsible for developing brand standards and maintaining brand integrity across all company marketing initiatives and communications.

As brand champion, the VP Brand Management is a driven leader with adroit communication, creative, analytical and organizational skills. Will master converting consumer and market insights into actionable, measurable initiatives that will build our brand and grow our bottom line.

  • Makes department/multi-department resource decisions that have a financial impact as well as an impact on meeting discipline and/or business goals.
  • Works to enhance the organization's capabilities through effective staffing and development of others by:  

- developing recruiting strategies based on evolving needs and profile of the business.

- using appropriate MVW interviewing tools to hire the best managers available from inside or outside.

- setting and maintaining high standards for team and individual performance.

- providing timely coaching and feedback.

- making and rewarding distinctions in performance.  

  • Assists senior management in achieving business results by:  

- contributing to the development of long-term function and/or discipline strategy.

- sharing relevant information to help others understand and support business objectives.

- achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

- building relationships across the organization to align own technical area with broader organization direction and facilitate own function and discipline goals.

- contributing on a regular basis to operating efficiencies by recommending new and creative business management techniques.

- removing barriers to achieve greater performance.  

  • Readily critiques own behavior to acknowledge mistakes and improve future leadership performance and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions  

  • Support to help evolve the marketing vision for the brand including brand positioning, key differentiators, audiences and customer engagement strategies.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to develop monthly, quarterly and annual initiative plans in support of organizational strategy and overall business objectives.
  • Develop strategy briefs reflecting the brand objective of each initiative, and inclusive of thoughtful deliverables, necessary assets, budget, and timeline.
  • Constantly seek and leverage consumer data to develop communication plans, drive innovation, and create amazing brand experiences and executions.
  • Work closely with Business Intelligence to discover gaps in customer experience that may lead to customer attrition and architect viable solutions.
  • Lead business teams and initiatives that require close collaboration with key multi-functional counterparts to move the business forward- from concept to execution.
  • Direct campaigns and tactics specifically focused on driving brand awareness and partnering with acquisition, onsite, sales, and anywhere teams to understand and develop brand strategies that will support growth for both channels.
  • Provide thought leadership on brand and social media - ensuring we continue to innovate and social is thoughtfully factored into partnerships, content, and campaigns.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including creative/copy, technology, product and other departments to ensure consistency of brand messages and user experience across all digital and offline channels.
  • Brand strategy, including the setting of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short as well as long term.
  • Create and manage promotional collateral to establish and maintain product branding.
  • Lead the charge on creating our vision for content, community engagement and driving brand affinity.



Generic Candidate Profile 

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Typically a senior position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines as well as associate and/or organizational management experience. College degree required. Advance degree or professional certification may also be required.

Specific Candidate Profile 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience -- MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive leadership experience, including 5+ years in a Sr. Leadership role.
  • Must possess strong listening and communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) to effectively communicate with customers and all levels within the company.
  • Ability to establish and facilitate effective working relationships with all levels in a collaborative way that builds credibility.
