Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.

Specific Job Summary

The Vice President - Global Tax, Income Tax Accounting is primarily responsible for ensuring that the quarterly and annual financial statement reporting of accounting for income taxes for worldwide subsidiaries is complete and accurate under the principals of US GAAP, including ASC 740, FIN 18, and FIN 48. Assist SVP, Global Tax with all tax aspects of external reporting (SEC and Investor). Includes development, coaching and management of staff as well as review of all material workpapers and schedules.

Specific Expected Contributions

Financial Reporting

  • Ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all tax quarterly close and consolidation process including tax provision, information requests, disclosures and documentation.
  • Reviews all tax accounting workpapers and schedules for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinates the formulation of tax accounting position statements aligned with overall tax strategies of MVW.
  • Maintains all global deferred tax assets for realization and support positions taken with respect to valuation allowances against those assets.
  • Liaise with financial planning team to calculate the effective tax rates for forecasts, budgets and long-range plan.
  • Establishes and maintains tax rates for planning and reporting and identifies opportunities to reduce the overall effective tax rate.
  • Establishes and maintains a tax reporting process including the maintenance of internal controls pursuant to SOX 404, the reconciliation of tax accounts, and the implementation of tax workbooks and tax reporting packages.
  • Primary contact for financial statement auditors in relation to income tax accounting and controls matters.
  • Provides input, guidance, and expertise as needed to forecasting and budgetary activities.
  • Monitors repatriations and impact on APB 23 assertions.


  • Acts as lead and project manager of transformation efforts to re-engineer MVW tax department business processes, including income and indirect tax processes.
  • Reviews tax department process and identifies opportunities for process improvements including work flow, selection of software packages, assessments of processes and data flows.
  • Leads tax systems implementation and configuration


  • Manages a team of tax professionals to meet quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with F&A leaders including SEC Reporting, Financial Planning and location country Vice Presidents and Directors of Finance.
  • Manages the tax calendar for financial reporting compliance including coordination of the U.S and International tax compliance teams.
  • Attracts, retains, manages, develops and motivates tax team members by providing leadership, guidance, and counseling as appropriate.
  • Engages and manages third-party advisors as necessary

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile


  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Master of Taxation preferred.


  • Twelve plus years of corporate tax experience with similar size organizations with minimum of five years of significant ASC 740 experience.
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP accounting including an understanding on all pronouncements related to the reporting of income taxes.
  • Experience leading and managing tax transformation initiatives.
  • Five plus years in a supervisory role with demonstrated success leading and developing a functional team in a complex, service-intensive, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Proven history of consistently delivering results.
  • Timeshare, real estate development, or hospitality experience preferred.
