Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks. 

Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)

The Sr Web Developer will support VRI marketing, resort and operations management. Will work under the supervision of the Director of Web Design. Responsible for creating and maintaining a range of corporate and resort websites and other Web applications, along with various print components for resort and corporate use. Works closely with business leaders to understand project objectives and develop appropriate technology to execute desired results. Identifies areas of opportunities and escalates challenges to leader in a timely manner. Participates in multiple projects and meets project deliveries/deadlines.

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks:  analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

Essential Functions:

  • Lead designer for creation of websites
  • Refresh/maintenance of existing websites
  • HTML design for transactional emails
  • Layout miscellaneous print pieces, including resort newsletters, directories, stationery
  • Use third party Web app to prepare and send weekly blasts
  • Be proficient in HTML5 and CSS 3
  • Proficiency in Bootstrap and other frameworks
  • Ability to take a Photoshop art file to HTML markup using CSS for layout and style
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/JQuery/other JavaScript libraries
  • Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility issues to ensure accurate display
  • Familiarity with email client compatibility issues to ensure accurate display
  • Make frequent updates to VRI website, resort websites, and other VRI managed websites as advised by supervisor
  • Thoroughly test software code
  • Follow standards for coding syntax, file architecture, and site architecture
  • Attend meetings to coordinate web and IT related initiatives
  • Brainstorm ideas to improve design, functionality, and efficiency of websites

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology).  College degree and/or related experience typically required.

Bachelor’s degree in Web Design or related field.


4+ Years in Web Design/Development as well as strong technical experience


  • Advanced HTML5 and CSS3 skills (hand coding); knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, additional JavaScript languages
  • web-related graphic design experience
  • Adobe Products: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, DreamWeaver
  • All Microsoft Office applications
  • Visual Studio
  • Windows & Mac OS
  • Git, BitBucket, or other version control applications
