CLS Band Generic Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.


Specific Job Summary

This leadership role understands both business management and various application life cycle processes and leads a small team to plan, manage, and support key Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) systems. These systems include but are not limited to Atlassian Jira, HP ALM, Blueprint Storyteller, and MS Project Server. These ALM systems and related processes support Marriott Vacations applications and related IT teams through Governance, Development, and Operations. This leader needs to understand the overall operating environment, then identify and successfully execute projects or process changes that have widespread impact. This role is a leader for our ALM systems strategy as it relates to overall planning, execution and success of IT delivery and support. This role is accountable for effective operational support of assigned ALM technology solutions, including applications, integrations, and vendor management as necessary.

Specific Expected Contributions

    • Provides leadership to implement new ALM systems, as well as deliver changes or updates to existing ALM systems as required.
    • Plan and deliver continuous improvements to ALM processes and systems used by MVW, enabling a multiplier effect when applied across IT as a whole.
    • Builds and manages relationships with IT and business technologists and contributes heavily to cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution across all projects.
    • Provides leadership to ensure effective IT support of ALM systems.
    • Effectively manages team workload, performance, ongoing development, and leads recruiting of new team members.
    • Builds and manages relationships with senior leaders as appropriate.
    • Leads hybrid teams to define, document and standardize ALM processes when necessary.
    • Works with IT and business management to prioritize user and functional requirements.
    • Contributes to ALM related system & architectural roadmaps and planning.
    • Keeps up to date on best practices and changes existing systems and procedures as appropriate.
    • Ensures that team does work within accepted IT norms and standards.
    • Manage vendor relationships and vendor deliverables to ensure effective execution.

CLS Generic Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile


  • A Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant experience will be considered.
  • Advanced courses and/or professional certifications in communication, leadership, strategy, and/or project management a plus.
  • Agile/Scrum related certifications a plus.                                    
  • Ideally 10 or more years of IT and business/industry work experience, with 3-5 years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams or projects, influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
  • Applied experience managing Atlassian Jira platform for an enterprise environment.
  • Significant applied experience with different SDLC methodologies, including Agile/Scrum, Kanban, and/or Waterfall.
  • Applied experience managing HP ALM, Blueprint Storyteller, and/or MS Project Server is a plus.
  • Experience integrating multiple ALM systems to drive efficiencies is a plus.

  • Applied experience with Atlassian Jira to manage Agile software development and support.
  • Ability and willingness to take direction from IT and business leaders.
  • Familiar with the full software development lifecycle.
