Generic Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with business strategies, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, managing own organization through reliable systems and processes, and producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process. 

Specific Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing the completion of accurate site accounting as it relates to M&S journal entries, account reconciliations, and business partnering. This position is also responsible for the integrity of information submitted by various internal and external teams. The Accounting Manager provides analysis of accounting data to business partners and manages a team of staff accountants. The Accounting Manager provides analysis of accounting data to senior management including but not limited to Site DOF's, RDOF's, M&S RVP's, Corporate VP's etc.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Oversees the completion of period and year to date actual to budget and last year variance explanations. Answers all inquiries from Senior Management including but not limited to Site DOF's, RDOF's, M&S RVP's, Corporate VP's etc.
  • Oversees the period process, which includes coordinating the receipt of information from several different departments and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of reported results.
  • Reviews reconciliations of various Balance Sheet accounts on a period basis.
  • Manages and completes various special projects that involve all areas of accounting and other functional departments.
  • Prepares, reviews, and communicates financial and other information to senior management, including VP's and Senior Directors in M&S and Accounting Services.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains policies and procedures.
  • Reviews financial data to ensure it is in compliance with MVW's policies and procedures.
  • Prepares audit work papers. Works with auditors, both internal and external.
  • Promotes employee morale; develops good working relationships with other departments for greater efficiencies and synergy.
  • Assists the Senior Manager, Accounting Services in other areas as necessary.

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position with specific knowledge and experience in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology) as well as associate management experience.  College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.


  • Sales Executive commission and bonus calculation/processing experience strongly preferred.
  • MVWC's Commission Engine Database experience strongly preferred.
  • Site M&S accounting experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounting with demonstrated supervisory skills.


  • Ability to work under pressure in deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks and staff persons.
  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to effectively report to senior management in a verbal and written format.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Peoplesoft, ADP and Cognos experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in PC-based applications, including EXCEL, MS Access, and Word.
