Senior Systems Analyst -- Data Integration

Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary

The Senior Systems Analyst -- Data Integration is responsible for data integration into the MVCI Enterprise Data Warehouse. The Senior Systems Analyst supports advanced strategic project work that generates value to the business by improving decision support and eliminating manual processes. The incumbent interacts with mid to senior level associates from various disciplines of the organization to affect change and influence business practices and processes using enterprise solutions. Primary job responsibilities include meeting with business representatives to determine integration requirements on projects, participating in dimensional model design reviews, database testing and deployment scheduling. Other supplemental responsibilities include managing MVCI's data warehouse data definitions, documentation, incident analysis, and warehouse enhancement requests.



Expected Contribution

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
    • identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes
    • providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.
    • participating in setting department operating plans.
    • recognizing and celebrating team successes.
    • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility
  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Responsible for determining data integration requirements of the MVCI Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Responsible for working with the report development team and the business to translate reporting requirements into data warehouse requirements.
  • Responsible for using a standard and efficient template and methodology. The incumbent should exhibit strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Responsible for providing Enterprise Reporting with advanced business intelligence expertise.
  • Responsible for enhancements, unit testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing.
  • Experienced in Data Warehousing concepts including fact and dimensional modeling.
  • Responsible for reviewing documentation including design specifications, job schedules and ETL flows.


Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows. 

Generally a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile

  • BS in computer science, technical certification, or equivalent work experience
  • Business intelligence and database certifications preferred.
  • Five to seven years relevant work experience.
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally when speaking and corresponding with internal business partners, when writing reports and general correspondence, when making formal presentations to senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to work professionally and cooperatively on a team towards achieving common goals.
  • Proven ability to write reports and general correspondence for presentation to senior level managers,
  • Advanced skills in date warehouse analysis, business intelligence reporting / analysis software, design and production support is required.
  • Working knowledge of project estimations, configuration management, quality assurance and testing methodology is required.
  • Proven ability to diagnose information systems, analyze data, and make recommendations for systems improvement.
  • Must be proficient in viewing objects in Oracle and SQL Server, T-SQL
  • Must have experience in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server procedural language, business analysis, and business intelligence
  • Experience in data mapping and/or modeling tools required.
  • Experience in a Business Intelligence reporting software (i.e. Cognos) required.
  • Experience in Universe is preferred.
  • Experience in other MVCI information systems applications is preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in source system applications feed to the MVCI Enterprise Data Warehouse preferred.
  • Advanced technical writing skills are required.
