Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to design, document, and implement cost effective network infrastructure that aligns with the governance established by MVW and meets the needs of business users in terms of reliability and accessibility to required information.

Primary Objective:

Provides project team management and advanced technical analysis/design skills to development projects and major business applications.

Scope:

  • Influences and provides work direction for junior engineers and operations staff
  • Lead moderate size projects with some definition and moderate costs
  • Provides technical development and support skills in at least two system environments, i.e.LAN technologies, WAN technologies, Voice/VoIP systems, Internet/Intranet, Wireless, IT security



Expected Contributions

    • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.
    • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk.
    • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
    • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
      • identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.
      • providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.
      • participating in setting department operating plans.
      • recognizing and celebrating team successes.
      • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Work as part of the MVW IT Infrastructure Engineering team to ensure proper and timely design, implementation, management, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN (remote access).
  • Utilizing the governance established by MVW, processes, provide network architectures, detailed designs, migration plans, test plans, performance analyses, configuration requirements, installation, and cutover plans for new and existing resort and corporate locations.
  • Analyze, gather, and define network requirements for local and wide area networks (LAN, WAN, WiFi).
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the local and wide area network and serve as a consultant to provide technical insight to design and support staff as well as project teams.
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate course of action in resolving 3rd level support issues related to network hardware failure, network software conflicts, and network inaccessibility for resort locations and corporate users.
  • Design, schedule, plan, develop, engineer and implement large complex network solutions that meet performance service level objectives, information assurance, and security requirements.
  • Provide financial projection and estimates of network related solutions.
  • Research applicable standards and requirements documents.
  • Provide technical guidance to other network support staff.
  • Review network related documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Direct interaction with the customer in order to communicate expectations and help guide them into the correct process for network upgrades, changes, and/or new functionality.
  • Provide timely feedback on associate's performance (as requested).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Incumbent has project responsibilities in all or some of the following areas: project planning, work plan development and staffing
  • Addresses end-to-end performance analysis and tuning as required for all open systems and applications.
  • Provides ongoing capacity forecasting for all open systems through the use of such techniques as benchmarks, modeling, load testing and statistical analysis
  • This position also has development and quality control responsibilities for: application technical design and implementation, systems (network, telephony, computer) operations design, client training and conversion
  • Prepares or supervises the preparation of technical specifications from functional requirements that will provide timely, cost-effective and practical solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Prepares operational requirements including system interfaces and inter-process communications

  • Keeps supported systems production-sound on basis of technical expertise
  • Leverages technical resources to deliver new functionality in multiple projects within the time and budget constraints, while following IR standards and meeting client business needs

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Anything over 40 pounds must be lifted with a tool such as a dolly or pallet jack or must seek assistance from additional personnel.
  • Ability to work in varying work environments and conditions.
  • No respiratory, hot or cold temperature constraints.
  • Ability to work in a safety conscious environment.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to be transported via airplane.
