Job Description

On-Call/Seasonal

A Banquet Server is responsible for performing food and drink serving duties special events while interacting with guests in a positive, friendly and efficient manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations)
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Set up and breakdown of events by moving tables and chairs to designated area on property
  • Carrying plates of food on trays and serving guests
  • Polish glassware and utensils
  • Keep glasses filled; remove each round of plates and replenish utensils
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Perform preparatory tasks and side work duties to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness
  • Know how to read the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and be familiar with the menu of the assigned functions
  • Maintain buffet line
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards)
  • Other duties as required.

Additional Qualification requirements:

  • Banquet Serving Experience: 1 year (Required)
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guests or operational needs
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines

Physical demands and abilities

  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly
