Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, the Senior Tax Analyst contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks.

Specific Job Summary

As a member of the Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporations' (MVWC) Tax Team, the Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting in the preparation of MVWC's tax provision to ensure MVWC's provision complies with ASC 740. The Senior Tax Analyst will also assists the team in automation of tax processes and implementing tax systems to improve processes within the MVWC's tax department..

Expected Contributions

Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.

  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

 - utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes.

- allocating own time effectively to meet goals in a manner that does not disadvantage other associates or groups.

- contributing to department/unit budget as appropriate (i.e., input, following guidelines, etc).

  •  Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions

  •  Assists with preparation of the MVW quarterly and annual tax provisions
  • Reviews tax accounting workpapers and schedules prepared by external sources for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares US GAAP to US or local tax reconciliations
  • Researches and documents ASC 740, federal and state technical tax issues, and other special projects.
  • Assists with tax automation and process improvement projects.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or related experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile


  •  Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • CPA or Master of Taxation preferred


  •  At least three (3) years of corporate tax experience with either a public accounting firm or within a corporate tax department with a similar size organization, or a combination of experience.
  • Understanding of US GAAP as it relates to Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740) preferred.
  • Experience with using automated tax provision systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in PC based applications including Excel, MS Access and MS Word
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities at one time
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Innovative thinker and agile learner who can readily apply past learnings in new situations to generate solutions
  • Adaptable to changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable with complexity, ambiguity and change
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
