Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks.

Specific Job Summary

The Manager is responsible for supporting the Tax Senior Managers and Directors with tax planning, forecasting and compliance processes for Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation's (MVWC) federal and state income tax reporting requirements.  The Senior Tax Analyst will also be involved in supporting the team on federal and state income tax examinations.

Expected Contributions

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on standard/routine business requests with limited risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

- utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes.

- contributing to department/unit budget as appropriate (i.e., input, following guidelines, etc).

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Assists with preparation of U.S. quarterly and annual tax estimated tax and return filings, including the following: analyzes pre-tax book income, analyzes intercompany transactions and forecast by entity, prepares schedules and book tax adjustments.
  • Prepares schedules and computations necessary to complete quarterly and annual tax return filings
  • Prepares book tax reconciliations for tax returns
  • Prepares return-to-provision true-up adjustments.
  • Prepares federal and state estimated tax and extension payments.
  • Researches and documents tax issues and processes.
  • Performs various General Ledger queries to gather information required complete calculations, such as trial balances, P&L, B/S, etc.
  • May review work prepared by administrative assistant or tax analyst.
  • Assistance with research in special projects as needed.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or related experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • CPA or Master of Taxation preferred

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of corporate tax experience with similar size organizations
  • Strong Excel skills; ability to create large workbooks and create formulas, macros, pivot tables
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in PC based applications including Excel, MS Access and MS Word.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities at one time
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Innovative thinker and agile learner who can readily apply past learnings in new situations to generate solutions
  • Adaptable to changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable with complexity, ambiguity and change
  • Ability to work extended hours, especially during US tax compliance season, as well as, quarterly and year- end tax provision timeline to ensure all assigned work is completed timely and accurately.
