JOB SUMMARY:        

To act as a maintenance team lead, coaching maintenance technicians in best practices to ensure guest satisfaction by keeping guestrooms and public areas in good repair. Ensure maximum resort profitability by encouraging wise and efficient use of equipment, tools and supplies.  The Resort prides itself in the level of personalized service we provide.  Therefore, we expect our Staff to maintain a high level of integrity and service and to always attend to our guests’ needs in a professional manner.


General upkeep, preventative maintenance and minor repairs as needed to keep units in a like new working condition, to include but not limited to plumbing, painting, tiling, electrical, carpentry and furnishings replacement. Exterior painting and repairs as needed to parking lot, poolside area, buildings and walkways. Preventative maintenance to equipment used by maintenance and grounds crew. Re-program, replace and repair door locks as required. Troubleshoot, repair or replace appliances and as needed. Replaces switches, plugs, circuit breakers and light fixtures, light bulbs and heating and air conditioning filters, fan belts on motors when needed. Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance practices to keep guestroom appliances running to maximum efficiency. Use work order software to keep track of work assigned and completed. Respond to requests for maintenance assistance in a timely manner. Participate in all required health and safety meetings/classes. Assist with any special projects as assigned by Supervisor. Participates in all required health and OSHA safety meetings/classes. Performs any other various duties that may be assigned by the General Manager, Assistant Manager or VRI Director of Resorts.

Job Expectations

Coach less experienced maintenance staff on more advanced handyman type functions beyond their current capabilities. Display a pleasant, professional and guest oriented attitude at all times. Display advanced knowledge of hand tools and small power tool use. Ability to diagnose problems, troubleshoot and determine a course of action to efficiently complete a task and restore parts to working order. Comply with resort and department codes, polices, procedures and regulations. Be willing to participate in team efforts and communicate well with fellow employees. Ability to accept constructive criticism and understand/follow posed work rules and procedures. Ability and willingness to follow directions from a supervisor. 


Physically able to walk/stand through an extensive facility, climb ladders as needed, drive vehicles of all types; work in extreme cold/heat as necessitated by local weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.


All weather conditions will be experienced. Environment may include exposure to fumes, chemicals, mold, and other possible allergens. Work schedule may include holidays and weekends, as determined to best meet the demands of the resort.  Must be comfortable working in heat, cold or inclement weather for sustained periods of time.


Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:           

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in plumbing, appliance, or electrical repair preferred

Minimum Experience required:                          

  • 4+ years in a related field

Skills Required:

  • Must have good oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have good coaching/teaching skills
