Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally, works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks.

Job Summary

The Release Manager ensures that all changes are planned and deployed to the production live environment in a well coordinated fashion. They create the deployment plans and carries them out, coordinating the work of all personnel required to deploy a change. The use of release coordination allows for many changes across multiple functional silos to be released within the same time windows.



Expected Contributions

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on standard/routine business requests with limited risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

- utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes.

- establishing priorities for self and, where appropriate, others.

- allocating own time effectively to meet goals in a manner that does not disadvantage other associates or groups.

- contributing to department/unit budget as appropriate (i.e., input, following guidelines, etc).

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate. 

Specific Expected Contributions 

  • Schedule Deployment Requests in order to ensure proper involvement and approval for all production deployments
  • Responsible for the coordination of resource availability for all deployments
  • Coordinates deployment validation and certain post-deployment certifications
  • Responsible for handing-over service management records to operations post-release.
  • Manages ELS releases and ELS Closeout Reviews.
  • Gathers, documents and communicates deployment plans
  • Ensure that deployment check lists are executed
  • Ensure that the release is properly verified
  • Send release notifications
  • Update Change records once release is executed
  • Escalate issues and conflicts for resolution
  • Engages the Service Desk to gather incidents and problems during a deployment's window  


 

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate proficiency and relationship skills as follows:

Education -- BA/BS, technical certification or equivalent work experience

Experience -- Three years relevant work experience-Release/Deployment planning, coordination and execution.

Skills - Organization; Coordination, Communication; Liaison; Detail Orientation; Mediation; Evaluation and Analysis

  • Working Knowledge of ITIL Release Management Process and touch points with other Service Mgmt Process
  • Proficiency in Project Planning
  • Proficiency in leading large project deployments
