As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives.  Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks. 

Specific Job Summary

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for managing all group related activities, to include lodging accommodations, meeting space and food & beverage needs for all NATO resorts. Responsibilities include timely follow up to lead sources; execute contracts, book accommodations, resort ancillary (spa, golf), meeting space & food & beverage.  Communicate & collaborate to the relevant business partners.  Ensure that all expectations of the customer are validated prior to arrival, documented and then communicated to the appropriate on-site department(s) to facilitate a successful experience.  The Groups Sales Manager is also responsible for ensuring relevant reporting and analyzes are current and results are provided to Senior Leadership.

Generic Expected Contributions

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks:  analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.
  • Remains knowledgeable for each region the resorts need times to ensure rental opportunities are targeted and available inventory is being optimized.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on standard/routine business requests with limited risk.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Responsible for understanding MVW regions, markets and its’ competitors
  • Responsible for maintaining or up skilling knowledge base of NATO properties, including, villas, meeting space configuration, resort experiences, and food & beverage offerings. 
  • Manage group sales supply and demand in accordance with available inventory to optimize occupancy and revenue
  • Knowledgeable in Customer Profile that matches each market to increase rental revenue and occupancy
  • Understand each resort sales strategy and negotiate contracts accordingly. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and listening skills 
  • Manage relationships with internal and external customer
  • Possess and utilize exceptional communication skills, including exceptional Customer Sales techniques and probing skills
  • Proactively manage lead flows to target qualified customers by resort and markets.
  • Identify and source leads from group room leads to increase customer base and revenue
  • Liaison with internal business partners for all Food and Beverage and meeting space needs to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Possess a working knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications.
  • Ensuring the completion of contracts in alignment with compliance and company policies.
  • Oversee the execution of the group related information in the reservation and property management systems.
  • Ensures that all updated information and/or cancellations are accurately reflected in the systems.
  • Partner with Centralized Accounting Services group to create group master and billing accounts are built and charged appropriately.
  • Partner with internal business partners to ensure delivery for each groups resume.   
  • Process period end reports to track leads & revenue performance.
  • Ability to travel based upon business needs.
  • Utilizes Marriott Global Source & for resources and information (Training, Marriott Rewards, eRooming Lists, etc.)

Generic Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources).  College degree and/or related experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience. 
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Suites applications.
  • Advance knowledge in the Sales procedures/processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines through effective multi-tasking and re-prioritization of tasks.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn and develop.
  • Goal oriented and self-motivated with professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with various levels of the company.
