Generic Position Summary 

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives.

Specific Job Summary 

Provide technical leadership as the application architect over all Database Marketing systems, providing guidance, and recommendations to both technical and business teams. Responsible for the consistent availability and data integrity of all Database Marketing supported applications. Manages the day to day operations and development of Marketing Database applications.

Scope:

  • No direct reports.
  • Influences and consults with senior leadership and project teams.
  • Trains/mentors development staff; engages with Systems Analysts on development projects.
  • Recommends standards that are consistent with the company future direction.
  • Provides advanced support during production incidents to reduce outage and trains other staff on trouble shooting and incident resolution.
  • Provides guidance for new technology selection. This includes research and piloting working examples of new technology or software.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects and new development efforts

Specific Expected Contributions 

  • Plans, coordinates, and executes all medium to large Database Marketing work requests.
  • Provides technical leadership to the Database Marketing ETL developers in day to day operations, including best practices, quality, standards and development, resulting in overall improved quality and increased productivity.
  • Monitors and ensures the consistent data availability and integrity for all Database Marketing supported applications.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for all Database Marketing attributes, business rules, and processes.
  • Works with users and application developers to define requirements, design and implement data models, data acquisition, and data access to support data analysis and campaign management.
  • Defines practical information architecture and data management solutions for ongoing data quality assurance.
  • Designs and implements advance ETL solutions to process terabytes of data.
  • Develops complex database access solutions including complex hierarchical and multidimensional queries to support high volume data analysis and campaign management.
  • Analyzes and optimizes database to improve performance and availability.
  • Collaborates with DBAs in DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management.
  • Provides advanced support and troubleshooting for production incidents with application teams and recommends solutions to avoid future incidents.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies.
  • Provides technical leadership for Database Marketing applications design and development, and for technology selection and implementation.
  • For the specialized technology focus, capture IT enabling opportunities or consult with business to avoid unnecessary IT expenditures where the cost of IT outweighs the benefit.

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate and/or organizational management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Education

  • BS/BA degree (computer sciences, information systems preferred), technical certification,
    or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 10+ years Oracle Database experience.
