Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.

Job Summary

Responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and supporting business technology solutions for major segments of the Marriott Vacations enterprise including Human Resources, Legal, and IT. This leadership role understands the processes performed by selected functional business areas and is capable at leading those areas through business process reengineering and large-scale IT deployment initiatives. This leader needs to understand the overall operating environment, then identify and successfully execute projects or process changes that have widespread impact. This role is a contributor to the internal business systems strategy and for overall planning, execution and success of assigned projects. This role will ensure that the Enterprise Application Services project and demand pipelines are understood, tracked, and communicated in a consistent and effective manner. Responsible for effective support of assigned business technology solutions, including applications, integrations, and vendor management as necessary.



Expected Contributions

  • Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.
  • Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress and results. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on business requests that have broader department impact and/or moderate risk. Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Provides leadership to implement new business technology systems, as well as ongoing changes to existing business technology systems as required.
  • Provides leadership to ensure effective IT support of business technology systems for selected areas of the business.
  • Builds and manages relationships with senior leaders as appropriate and creates or contributes to cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Effectively manages team workload, performance, ongoing development, and leads recruiting of new team members.

  • Manage vendor relationships and vendor deliverables to ensure effective execution.


Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • A Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant experience will be considered.
  • Advanced courses and/or professional certifications in communication, leadership, strategy, and/or project management a plus.
  • Agile/Scrum related certifications a plus.

Experience

  • Ideally 10 or more years of IT and business/industry work experience, with 5-7 years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams or projects, influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of business management/leadership experience, including direct supervisory experience and experience mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • Applied experience leading technical support for business technology solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience presenting proposals to senior management to gain buy-in and encourage specific actions or strategies is required. Experience developing team vision and strategies and gaining buy-in from team members.
  • Significant experience with HRIS ERP platforms is a plus, ideally Workday HCM.
  • Significant experience managing IT work within an Agile and/or Kanban framework is a plus.

Skills/Attributes

  • Proven leadership skills plus excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer relationship management, presentation, and consulting skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and team organization skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work with numerous teams at all levels, including senior level and executive leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new hardware/software systems independently and adapt to a changing technical environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft's Collaboration & Productivity software, such as SharePoint, Teams, Yammer, OneDrive, etc.
  • Applied experience with Atlassian Jira to manage Agile software development and support.
  • Ability and willingness to take direction from IT and business leaders.
  • Familiar with the full software development lifecycle.
