Generic Position Summary

As a member of the Data & Analytics team supporting digital growth for the Marriott Vacations Worldwide brand, this individual will be responsible for leading a team of individuals focused on providing advanced analytics, data science, and business intelligence solutions in support of the Brand & Digital team and the organization as a whole. 

Specific Job Summary 

  • Lead a team of analytics professionals with a diverse set of data analysis and BI backgrounds within an agile development environment. Provide direction, prioritization, and coaching with a focus on developing and expanding their skills.
  • Ensure the timely deployment of customer storyboards/dashboards for consumption by senior management and executive teams utilizing Tableau, integrating advanced statistical algorithms / predictive components where appropriate.
  • Consult with internal customers (e.g., Brand & Digital leaders) to develop and present analyses that lead to actionable insights. There will be a significant focus on understanding a variety of digital marketing channels including paid campaigns, boosted social media, email responsiveness, etc.
  • Identify new opportunities to develop dashboards, forecasts, and statistical models for ad-hoc type projects, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Build relationships across the organization to promote the use of data and analytics.
  • Provide regular updates as it relates to digital efforts, and manage projects using agile development methods. The position will also be responsible for:

- ensuring the accurate delivery of data.

- maintaining automated dashboards and ensure they are properly operating and updating.

- achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

- developing and using systems to organize and keep track of information.

- balancing the interests of own group with the interests of the organization.

- working with others to identify and remove barriers to success.

  • Readily critiques own behavior to acknowledge mistakes and improve future performance and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

Specific Expected Contributions 

  • The Director of BI & Advanced Analytics will help promote the use of data and analytics throughout the organization, while focusing on uncovering new insights from this data using quantitative analysis. They will provide their internal customers with regularly updated reports and dashboards.
  • The person filling this role will be responsible for providing guidance, best practices, and the leadership needed to achieve the team's goals. They will work closely with the Sr. Director of Data & Analytics to prioritize the work and to develop ongoing analytics strategy.
  • They will meet with a variety of teams including developers, project leaders, and product owners to understand and define analytic requirements within an agile environment.
  • The Sr. Manager of Analytics will regularly present findings from the analysis to leaders within the organization. 


Generic Candidate Profile 

Requires significant understanding of all facets of data analytics and BI methodology, including requirements gathering, design, development, quantitative analysis, and insights discovery. Must demonstrate a strong quantitative aptitude for data, as well as a passion for leading others in a way that brings out the best in them. Must be comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment. Candidate must be collaborative while also being a self-motivated, creative problem solver. 

Specific Candidate Profile 

Minimum 5+ years' experience in analytics, business intelligence, or related field with 2+ years of experience leading a team of analysts. Must have experience developing reports and dashboards as well as deriving insights from data. 

Minimum 4-year degree in marketing, business administration, analytics, mathematics, or related field preferred. MBA or equivalent graduate degree (decision science, mathematics, etc.) preferred. 

Experience with marketing attribution modeling and measurement preferred. 

Experience using natural language processing methods to understand audience sentiment preferred. 

Must be able to communicate insights clearly to peers and leaders. This includes strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Aptitude in calculating a variety of KPI's throughout the marketing funnel. 

Experience using software for statistical analysis such as SAS, SPSS, or open source platforms (Python, R) a must. Experience with visualization software such as Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik etc. strongly preferred. 

Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. 

Must be a strong collaborator, but also a motivated self-starter as an individual contributor. 

Experience in the hospitality or timeshare industry a plus.
