Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.




Specific Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President of Procurement Strategy & Analytics is responsible for prioritizing, monitoring, and tracking sourcing execution pipeline and associated metrics.  Manages all transformation and improvement efforts, including spend taxonomy and analytics.  Supports seamless coordination across processes, categories, and business units.



Expected Contributions

  • Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.
  • Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress and results. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on business requests that have broader department impact and/or moderate risk.  Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.

Specific Expected Contributions

Monitor Project Portfolio & Spend Analytics

  • Governs Procurement’s performance by establishing targets, measuring actual performance, and identifying possible improvement
  • Assesses, validates, and documents status of in-flight and recently completed business functional area sourcing events
  • Reviews and support development of inventory of all available business functional area sourcing projects, and prioritizes projects to optimize ROI and balance business needs
  • Conducts quarterly portfolio review and aligns on amendments to Procurement’s strategy and action plan
  • Extracts & aggregates spend data from systems with 3rd party spend analytics provider (if appropriate)
  • Coordinates with 3rd party spend analytics provider to load data & perform initial classification
  • Coordinates spend classification process to drive consistency across organization
  • Supports development of operational budgets and forecasts

Lead Strategy and Transformation Initiatives

  • Leads and supports initiatives spanning procurement strategy and operational excellence by directly scoping, executing, controlling, and closing procurement projects
  • Supports development of roadmaps, program plans, business cases, and realization strategies to support transformation initiatives

Manage Internal Documentation & Reporting

  • Oversees and follows up on Value Capture Form for ongoing tracking
  • Identifies opportunities for new RFx templates or template amendments based on sourcing event feedback
  • Supports category taxonomy amendments through a consistent methodology across categories
  • Documents and reviews updates to master taxonomy
  • Reports out on compliance to procurement policies (e.g., spend threshold adherence, eSourcing adherence)
  • Reviews Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reports related to Source-to-Pay process
  • Establishes metrics and outcomes to lead execution of strategy initiatives and drive transparency, visibility, and accountability


Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration degree or related field required.
  • MBA and/or CSCP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of strategic sourcing and/or procurement experience.
  • Understands and applies relevant continuous improvement principles, concepts and tools in highly complex situations (e.g., organizational transformation) and leads strategic transformation efforts from conceptualization to execution
  • Develops high degree of trust and strong relationships with multiple stakeholders of varying levels as a trusted advisor who can navigate and influence the organization, resolve conflicts, and deliver results
  • Facilitates an acceptable balance of risk and rewards by establishing a culture of compliance, proactively identifying business risks related to sourcing solutions, leading implementation of risk based due diligence of vendors, communicating to business recommendations and tradeoffs, and partnering with business to determine best course of action
  • Delivers high impact presentations internally and externally and develops persuasive and convincing communications (e.g., proposals, reports, plans) to secure commitment from business leaders
  • Reviews priorities and activities to drive alignment to business vision (e.g., revenue growth, profit growth, cost reduction) and provides recommendations for strategy tied to the business’ operating model and core processes
  • Partners with key stakeholders to enhance data-driven decision making
  • Provides perspective on Procurement technologies and identifies opportunities to drive increased efficiency
  • Possesses proficiency in industry-standard / leading-class contract terms and conditions (T&Cs)
  • Comfortable with large amounts of data and adopts a data-driven approach to strategic category management
  • Proficiency in PC-based applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
