JOB TITLE: Assistant Accountant

** Please note that this is a 1 year contract**

REPORTS TO: Manager Operational Finance

DEPARTMENT: Cork Finance & Accounting

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: All MVC Cork Associates, European Finance Teams,

US Treasury




  • Prepare Europe Intercompany variance schedule each period and distribute to sites
  • Follow up promptly with sites on any imbalances identified
  • Prepare final period close intercompany report for sign off
  • Prepare Europe Intercompany repayment schedule and work with sites to ensure that balances are settled timely
  • Prepare all intercompany payments on behalf of Irish entities and liaise with US Treasury to obtain necessary approval for them
  • Monitor aged intercompany balances and seek settlement agreement where possible
  • Ensure that all intercompany journal entries are recorded on the general ledger for the Irish entities in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly ICO Master file for Intercompany recharges

Management accounting

  • Prepare period end journals for given admin units and present for review to manager
  • Prepare period management accounts for selected admin units, including detailed variance analysis as required
  • Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts for selected admin units and submit for review within set timelines
  • Work with various departments to provide payroll budgets
  • Provide cover for other members of finance team where necessary
  • Review business controls in area of responsibility and drive continuous improvement
  • Ad-hoc support for manager as and when required


  • Prepare weekly funds requests for the Irish entities
  • Prepare weekly cash flows forecasts for the Irish entities
  • Prepare weekly consolidated cash flow forecast for all European entities
  • Maintain detailed annual cash flow forecast, and update for actuals. Report any material variances versus forecast to Manager
  • Assist Manager in streamlining the Europe Cash flow process
  • Review weekly bank activity and report to manager on same

Balance Sheet

  • Collate quarterly MVWP66 submissions from EME
  • Follow up & drive resolution of previous MVWP 66 exceptions
  • Prepare Balance Sheet review file and present findings to line manager
  • Ensure understanding of all balances across EME, identifying and querying large movements
  • Conduct Monthly Balance Sheet testing and report quarterly on results
  • Conduct Quarterly VAT testing as requested
  • Prepare Monthly VAT re-class journal for EME entities
  • Attend period review meetings with senior finance manager
  • Prepare monthly responsibility matrix and distribute to EME
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of master library for responsibility matrix

Audit Tax and Compliance

  • Assist in internal and external audits
  • Prepare audit files for ICO and other payables
  • Provide all necessary YOY analysis and statutory reconciliations as requested
  • Assist in all testing relating to areas of responsibility as assigned by senior manager
  • Aid senior manager with internal controls & compliance requirements for the site
  • Provide any other support as required

Support S&M Finance

  • Assist director of finance sales and marketing with reporting
  • Assist in preparation of weekly sales volume and flash reports
  • Assist with other monthly reporting requirements as requested


  • Prepare period balance sheet reconciliations as assigned to the role
  • Process Payments to sites to rentals applied to Maintenance Fees
  • Provide cover for CRM accountant when necessary
  • Provide cover for AP in case of absence
  • Support with any ad-hoc projects as and when required


  • Perform all tasks in a timely manner ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Comply with MVW polices and procedures
