Position Summary:

The Area Director of Finance will lead the finance and accounting team responsible for a group of properties managed by Aqua-Aston Hospitality, this will include centralized and decentralized hotel finance teams. This role will join the Finance leadership team and be responsible for helping to develop, implement and provide oversight of the financial records to ensure accurate and timely reporting and filing. We are looking for someone who wants to contribute strategically to the future of the finance and accounting organization.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the oversight of finance and accounting for hotel, condominium rental programs, and resort rental properties. A member of the leadership team formulating and rolling out consist accounting policies and procedures across all managed properties.
2. Reviews monthly financial statements and monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Including helping with the preparation if necessary.
3. Reviews the periodic Hawaii general excise, transient accommodations, state sales and use tax returns as appropriate, including helping with the preparation if necessary.
4. Evaluates and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principle (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI), corporate accounting policies and procedures, financial controls and activities within the company.
5. Provides insight to the property general managers or department heads in preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with owners through monthly financial reviews and owner distributions statements as applicable.
7. Responsible for helping to onboard new properties into the Aqua-Aston ohana, both with centralized and decentralized finance operations.

Assist with and coordinate internal or external audits and tax preparation.
9. Working with the treasury team on cash management related items pertinent to the properties, including cash flow forecasting owner distribution timing, etc.
10. Help to develop and implement training and development programs for the finance and operations teams, as needed.
11. Additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to special projects focused on improving processes and operating efficiencies.

Job Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Accounting, Business)


Ideal candidate will have prior hotel finance experience with both centralized and decentralized properties. Previous experience with condo hotels preferred. All candidates should have comprehensive accounting and finance knowledge and at least 3 years of management experience.

Candidates should have the ability to adapt to new situations with a good attitude and interface with senior management as well as prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. This position requires strong analytical, strategic planning and communication skills. Must have strong Excel skills.

Prior Peoplesoft, and/or Opera experience is a plus


CPA license preferred.
