Position Summary  

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks. 

Specific Job Summary 

The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the Tax Directors and Sr Manager with financial reporting and tax compliance processes for Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (MVWC) U.S. and International tax reporting requirements. The Tax Analyst prepares financial and tax information for local country tax reporting, US tax reporting, account reconciliations and journal entries.  

Expected Contributions 

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on standard/routine business requests with limited risk.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by: 

- utilizing technical knowledge and skills to enhance business processes. 

- establishing priorities for self and, where appropriate, others. 

- allocating own time effectively to meet goals in a manner that does not disadvantage other associates or groups. 

- contributing to department/unit budget as appropriate (i.e., input, following guidelines, etc). 

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate. 

Specific Expected Contributions  

  • Assists Tax Directors with preparation and documentation to complete local country returns.
  • Assists Tax Directors with ensuring all required documentation is received with local country returns from tax advisor, as well as, tracking the status of tax filings.
  • Prepares schedules to support the tax foreign tax provision process.
  • Prepares monthly tax account reconciliations in compliance with MVWP-66 Policy and works with local site teams to obtain necessary reconciliations and information.
  • Runs various General Ledger queries from PeopleSoft, including Trial Balances, P&L, B/S, etc.
  • Assists with preparing entity information needed to complete US income tax return Forms 5471 and 8858.
  • Assists with researching and documenting tax processes and issues. 

Candidate Profile 

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Tax, Information Technology). College degree and/or related experience typically required. 

Specific Candidate Profile  


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent work experience. 


  • 0-3 year's experience in corporate tax department or similar role
  • Proficiency in PC based applications including Excel, MS Access and MS Word. 


  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Adaptable to changing, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
