Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.

Job Summary

Marriott Vacations Worldwide is seeking a dynamic, strategic product owner to deliver a best-in class, frictionless digital experience. As the Director, Digital Product, the successful candidate will develop and execute an informed, data-driven digital roadmap that will continually bring capabilities to market positively impacting the customer's digital experience and the company's strategic and financial goals.

Expected Contributions

▪ Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.

▪ Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress and results. Typically influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.

▪ Responds to, solves and makes decisions on business requests that have broader department impact and/or moderate risk. Presents alternative solutions to business issues by leveraging the broader organization.

▪ Works to enhance the organization’s capabilities through effective staffing and development of others by:

− anticipating staffing requirements by comparing business needs with strengths and weaknesses of existing staff.

− using appropriate MVW interviewing tools to hire the best managers available from inside or outside.

− setting and maintaining high standards for team and individual performance. − providing timely coaching and feedback.

− making and rewarding distinctions in performance.

▪ Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

− acting in a consultative fashion to implement programs impacting the broader organization.

− assisting in the development and communication of broader organizational goals.

− achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

− taking calculated risks to move the department or team forward.

− developing and using systems to organize and keep track of information.

− balancing the interests of own group with the interests of the organization.

− working with others to identify and remove barriers to success.

Specific Expected Contributions

Product Ownership

• Drive Digital Experience and Product Strategy for a large scale, enterprise-wide digital transformation project.

• Serve as Roadmap owner, including defining overall product strategy direction, and ensuring a feature/story pipeline exists to support the product strategy and objectives.

• Synthesize insights & data, research, market analysis and user feedback to build the business case for testing or new feature development.

• Continually refine the process of bringing Digital capabilities to market across web and app.

• Establish clear objectives and success metrics and develop and drive subsequent strategies to increase engagement and conversion on digital platforms.

• Establish an optimization mindset, initiating a continuous testing & delivery approach to improving key web and app elements to drive incremental revenue. • Use input from stakeholders and peers to create epics and user stories in a format easily used for prioritization, sprint planning, development, and production support.

• Attend sprint daily standup meetings (scrums) to understand sprint progress and to act as decision maker for any product feature questions.

• Ensure that the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) includes appropriate stakeholders and performs his / her own testing to ensure product quality.

• Coordinate deployment dates, ensures all stakeholder groups are trained and ensures proper communication of deployment impacts to the business.

• Work with internal partners to communicate product benefits and features to internal and external users. Create Partnerships & Evangelize Digital

• Be a vocal advocate and digital thought leader for new technologies and innovation.

• Monitor, communicate, and incorporate new digital capabilities into the long-term digital roadmap.

• Champion user-first experience design.

• Establish relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders across the company including Business owners, IT, Legal, Brand and Creative.

• Lead, motivate, and develop a product team, continuously improving the team’s influence and impact with executives and senior leaders.

• Communicate vision, build consensus and influence at all levels of the organization from Senior Executives to individual contributors.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile


• Relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized university. MBA preferred.


• 8-10 years of progressive experience managing end to end digital product & experience strategy and delivery.

• Timeshare product knowledge and experience desired.

• Travel, tourism/hospitality industry experience a plus.


• Proven experience leading product teams, and driving large scale, enterprise-wide digital projects.

• Be a relentless champion of the User, and the user experience, and know how to identify and focus on the highest-value work.

• Expertise in creating and promoting a digital experience road map and/or strategy that balances user needs with business objectives.

• Experience in all phases of the development life cycle, with familiarity with the Agile methodology.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills, particularly in the ability to analyze digital data and use it to communicate performance and identify opportunities.

• Experience tracking emerging trends in user behavior and developing UX to serve user needs.

• Demonstrated track record of leading/influencing diverse stakeholders toward a common solution.

• Proficiency in user experience and design principles. • Big picture thinking complimented by detail orientation.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Experience overseeing budgets.

• Ability to interact with a wide range of levels and communication styles to collaboratively define product features.

• Solid understanding and command of digital software development tools including creation of user stories and backlog management

• Ability to learn complex product rules or functions (including technical platform features) and to then capture and share those rules and functions using digital software development tools

• A proven track record of consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations

• Exceptional initiative, attention to detail, and follow-through skills to ensure what's produced is accurate and satisfies requirements

• She/he must have a passion for producing outstanding work, delivered on time and on budget.

• Excellent time management skills, organizational and multi-tasking skills
