Specific Job Summary

As a key member of the Asia Pacific, Europe and Middle East Executive team, the Chief Financial Executive (CFE) will report to the Senior Vice President and Managing Director (SVP/MD) for the region, and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFE will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the business segment. This position will have direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing and deal analysis. The CFE will manage the consolidation of accounting and reporting processes to ensure the achievement of Company’s on-going financial management needs.

The CFE will identify, develop and implement appropriate finance strategies across the region in alignment with broader financial framework of the enterprise. The position provides financial support and a strategic perspective to regional leaders to drive the overall financial results and the development of financial and operational business strategies that maximize profitability. The position will monitor service-level agreements as appropriate to ensure real time access to critical information and data analysis, as well as ensuring service delivery metrics are met.

In addition, the position will collaborate closely with the SVP, Global Operational Finance and other Finance and Accounting leads to support efficiency efforts, while ensuring the business' on-going financial management needs are met. The CFE will partner with Corporate F&A leadership to ensure audit and accounting system controls exist throughout the region’s business processes, and also collaborate across the Finance and Accounting organization in designing policies, processes and tools to ensure accurate financial reporting and monitor the achievement of business goals.

Business/Functional Results

Business Strategy:

  • Leads the development of the region’s strategic plans, annual budgets, long range plans and financial strategies to ensure alignment of assumptions and maximization of cross-functional opportunities.
  • Provides leadership on the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Drive financial measures to evaluate the feasibility of new business strategies as well as ensuring proper integration into the existing business structure.  Evaluate ongoing strategy and implement new strategy where appropriate to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and all financial goals are met (capital outlay, return on investment and short- and long-term profit). 
  • Design and implement analytical models to evaluate business decisions for investment of capital to ensure assumptions, LRP goals and short-term business growth needs are met. 
  • Develop and shape business strategy for business segment to ensure both short- and long-term financial goals are met through LRP period while adapting strategy to meet the potential changing needs from MVW.
  • Improve profitability of all aspects of business segment through direct improvements in the businesses’ profitability or indirect benefits obtained through maximizing other process interdependencies.
  • Identify, monitor and interpret financial data and analyze business factors impacting financial performance; ensures the early identification of risks and issues.  Implement strategies to improve financial results.

General F&A:

  • Delivers the region’s business results by:
    • Leading and managing cross discipline teams to drive execution of highly complex operating plans across a portfolio of multi-branded projects to achieve stated performance objectives and measures (including on-site and off-site sales distribution targets).
    • Working with and through internal and external constituencies.
    • Managing financial processes and analytic capabilities to ensure sound business and financial decisions are made and that financial goals and growth objectives are met or exceeded.
    • Driving financial measures to evaluate the feasibility of new business strategies as well as ensuring proper integration into the existing business structure.
    • Managing capital expenditures and overall expenses to obtain highest value, i.e., economic profit.
    • Anticipating and driving the implementation of opportunities to improve business performance.
    • Identifying and implementing innovation from both within and outside of MVWC to improve performance.
  • Monitors financial performance against stated plans, updates the Segment forecast to reflect changes in performance and develops actionable recommendations to address identified business challenges and opportunities.
  • Acts as the lead financial liaison for the Segment, driving communication and implementation of Segment strategy with the Finance and Accounting organization.
  • Represent Asia Pacific, Europe and Middle East on all consumer finance initiatives including systems development, new loan products, capital market issues, etc.
  • Accountable for maintaining a strong internal control structure and regulatory environment through the development of proper processes, performing control reviews, ensuring statutory audits are completed and filed in a timely manner, and championing internal controls for the business.
  • Works closely with MVWC Tax department with regard to all indirect and corporate income tax filing and reporting requirements, including providing audit support, responses to regulatory inquiries, special requests for disclosure requirements, etc.
  • Creates a strong atmosphere of teamwork and associate satisfaction.
  • Ensure credibility of Finance process by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the region’s senior executives, to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
  • Provide regional senior executives with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Formulate long-term financial plans to mitigate risk to the business.   Maintain a strong, effective internal control structure through the development of proper processes, performing control reviews.  Champion internal controls for the business, to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Challenge assumptions of on-going business decisions and initiatives ensuring the right financial approaches and resources are brought to bear on overall business challenges and opportunities.
  • Oversee utilization of cash flow models for capital projects
  • Ensure standardized accounting policies and procedures are in place to produce accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure statutory audits and tax filings are completed and filed with appropriate regulatory agencies in a timely fashion.

New Owner Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with contract and reporting requirements; ensure that sites and sales forces are familiar with the structure of the underlying transactions and structure of the deal and operate in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Lead business segment New Owner Administration processing closings, loan origination and sales start-up and support.
  • Oversee on-going relationships with all third-party vendors related to timeshare sales contracting and modification processes including title companies and third-party lending institutions.

Specific Candidate Profile

Experience 

  • 12-15 years of relevant progressive experience, preferably in a multi-faceted corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading senior professionals and developing strong organization and workforce in a complex, service-intensive, deadline driven matrix organization
  • Demonstrated strong business judgment, analytical skills, advanced conceptual thinking, strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of timeshare business.
  • Demonstrated business partner skills
  • Experience in applying financial theory and business methodology to financial modelling.
  • Strong analytical and process management skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • CPA or MBA a plus.
