Position Summary 

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally works under close supervision or within well-established guidelines to complete routine tasks. 

Specific Job Summary  

The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the Tax Managers and Directors with tax reporting and tax compliance processes for Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation's (MVWC) U.S. and international tax reporting requirements. The Senior Tax Analyst prepares financial and tax information for the ASC 740 U.S. tax provision related to foreign operations, reviews foreign income tax returns and tracks tax return compliance. Gathers required financial information and provides to US tax advisors as part of annual US tax return compliance process and reviews US tax forms 5471 and 8858.



Expected Contributions 

  • Performs the following types of basic tasks: analysis, auditing, budgeting, forecasting, programming, research, report generation, and software integration.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate. 

Specific Expected Contributions  

  • Manages completion of foreign tax return filings and reviews foreign tax returns to ensure completeness and accuracy. Reviews book tax reconciliations for foreign tax returns and prepares return-to-provision true-up adjustments.
  • Prepares and reviews foreign entity information needed to complete US income tax return Forms 5471 and 8858.
  • Prepares schedules and calculations to support the quarterly tax provision process for foreign operations
  • Prepares foreign estimated tax and extension payments.
  • Researches and documents tax issues and processes.
  • Assists in determining the appropriate local tax treatment for specific transactions as needed.
  • Assist with responses in support of the tax audits in foreign jurisdictions
  • Performs various General Ledger queries to gather information required by tax advisors, such as trial balances, P&L, B/S, etc.
  • Maintains reporting scorecard of the status of tax filing of all MVW entities.
  • May review work prepared by administrative assistant or tax analyst.
  • Assistance with research in special projects as needed. 


Candidate Profile 

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Usually a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology). College degree and/or related experience typically required. 

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • CPA or Master of Taxation preferred 

Experience 

  • At least three (3) years of corporate tax experience with similar size organizations
  • Strong Excel skills; ability to create large workbooks and create formulas, macros, pivot tables
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in PC based applications including Excel, MS Access and MS Word.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Ability to work extended hours, especially during US tax compliance season, as well as, quarterly and year- end tax provision timeline to ensure all assigned work is completed timely and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
