Generic Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives. 

Specific Job Summary

The Sr Manager of Sales Operations, Projects will be responsible for implementing the business process and project needs for Sales Operations and M&S Recruiting across all brands of Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) Sales Initiatives.

Business Process areas include: executing against the priorities established by the Director, documenting process requirements and ensuring that the execution aligns with overall company strategy. Assist with the execution of cost-benefit analysis, archiving and achieving success measurements. Assist with developing, communicating and archiving the daily P.U.S.H. messages.  Partners with business clients to implement the change management plan for assigned projects.

  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:
    • identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.
    • providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.
    • participating in setting department operating plans.
    • recognizing and celebrating team successes.
    • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions

Project Management

  • Leads cross-functional Process Teams to work on specific business challenges to provide input for improvements.
  • Coordinates with all Sales Leadership, including the Sales Advisory Board, to leverage best practices and processes throughout Sales Operations.
  • Represents MVW and Sales Operations with business partners, both internal and external, and liaises with those partners to identify key processes that impact associate and customer engagement and works to continually improve these processes.
  • Acts as the key contact to coordinate the work of cross functional teams to ensure continuity with the needs of the business, alignment with current and future business goals and objectives and delivery of required functionality on approved timeline. Ensures that assigned projects meet established project timelines.
  • Directs multiple efforts, ensuring successful completion within schedule and budget constraints, while following MVCW standards and meeting business needs.
  • Develops and directs all parts of process change plans with minimal assistance, including schedules, deliverables, requirements and measurements.
  • Provides assistance and work direction to aid other associates in their development.

M&S Technology

  • Accountable for managing the daily capture and preparation of professional documentation for each identified project including the scope of the project, targeted groups, goals, current state, feedback from associates and customers, financial impact, and recommended changes for both the initial and maintenance stages of the project.
  • Responsible for implementation of changes identified and driving opportunities for process and technological improvements for Sales Operations and M&S Recruiting to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for sales efficiency and effectiveness. Leads project teams toward solutions for recommended changes in order to meet and exceed business goals.
  • Coordinates and solicits feedback from Focus Groups with End Users of proposed process changes, and lead the User Acceptance Testing and Review sessions on assigned projects to ensure alignment with both associate and customer strategy.
  • Partner with the Director to provide feedback and solution recommendations for the business leaders to assist in the decisions necessary to provide the end users (Associates and/or Owners) with the tools and processes needed to achieve specific goals, while laying the foundation for the future.
  • Partner with the Director on the development of training programs and materials, training plan, schedule and delivery of training as required, to ensure a smooth transition and minimize negative business change reactions for End Users.
  • Conducts short-term user support during implementations to solve problems and provide information and process change recommendations necessary to facilitate transition.
  • Provides expertise as Subject Matter Expert for Sales Operations.

This position reports directly to the Director of Sales Operations.



Generic Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position with specific knowledge and experience in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology) as well as associate management experience.  College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • Minimum of four (4) years college degree - Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent qualifying work experience in Sales Operations.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with MVW or Industry competitor; Timeshare product knowledge and experience an advantage. 
  • Minimum 3 years functional experience within Marketing & Sales or an Administrative organization, with a focus on Project Management and Process support, - preferably within Timeshare industry.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing and implementing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with using the following tools to develop and host M&S resources, and be able to train/engage business clients with the use:
    • SharePoint
    • PC/Desktop Hardware/Software
    • Database solutions

Skills/Attributes

Expert knowledge in project management and implementation with knowledge of Microsoft Project, including proven experience developing project plans, reporting progress and on-going support.

  • Excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and the ability to create clear and thorough written documentation of processes and workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several distinctly different projects simultaneously, involving various operational units, systems, cultures, and balancing teams composed of a wide variety of skill sets.
  • Ability to apply current knowledge to a wide variety of software programs and technologies.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to build trust and influence key decisions.
  • Proven decision-making skills.
  • Proven track record in recruiting and motivating marketing associates.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Ability to travel, approximately 5-10%.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly English is required; ability to work in Spanish or Japanese is an advantage.
