System Job Title: SENIOR MANAGER IT PMO

Leadership Role: INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTOR

Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives.



 

Specific Job Summary

The Senior Manager of IT, manages IT Projects of either an enterprise-wide nature or business-critical nature. Responsible for financial and work estimates of projects and/or initiatives, budget tracking and managing expectations of those assigned projects. Budgets average range is $100K to $1M with some strategic projects over $5M.

Leads, plans, directs, tracks and monitors all project management activities for IT projects.

Manage multiple IT infrastructure and application development projects. Manages project cost to ensure that the project will deliver timely and within budget. Facilitate meetings to develop schedules, address questions/concerns, assign work groups, monitor and execute against project plans. Report and escalate risks associated with projects to ensure timely delivery. Partners with vendors to negotiate and manage delivery of solutions to ensure the product is in alignment with the business requirements.

Specific Expected Contributions

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing project cost to deliver products within set budgets; assist in project forecasting
  • Responsible for project and/or program status reporting at all levels of the organization
  • Develops scope of project and manages assigned projects
  • Manages and facilitates problem analysis as it pertains to assigned projects and to other projects managed by IT project managers
  • Provides project phasing schedules (time, cost and scope), and implementation against those schedules
  • Support Information Technology, Business and Corporate initiatives that are enterprise-wide or business critical in nature
  • Utilizes the organization's project management methodology on all assigned projects
  • Engage in a partnership with IT customers in the delivery of projects by providing project-related services to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded through the consistent application of project management processes, practices and tasks
  • Establishes effective working relationships with customers, peers, and process owners.
  • Create and support enterprise wide project management standards establishing and enforcing standard methods for system design, implementation, and production
  • Responsible for the project organization, team selection, project management training and project team performance review and project sign-off in support of internal and external user business systems and operational requirements
  • Provides the following services to assigned Infrastructure projects:
    • Planning
    • Management
    • Executing
    • Controlling (Scope Change Control and Business Change Management)
    • Communications (Project and Business)

  • Consolidates and manages project budgets, capital expenditures requirements, or other cost estimates related to project as requested
    • Accountable for the financial performance of the project
    • Adherence to the cost estimation process when developing ROMs
    • Ensure Project budgets and forecasts are kept up to date, tracked, and reported
    • Deliver projects on-budget

  • Manage risks and issues, including interdependencies across projects; ensure mitigation is accomplished.
  • Adhere Compliance with Corporate and IT governance policies
  • Access identifies needs and resources to ensure projects are adequately staffed.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Project Server to enter and maintain project schedules
  • Responsible for creating all project plans that include Change Management, Security Reviews, and postproduction Technical Services Support
  • Responsible for leading, set up, facilitating and manage project status meetings, including Executive Steering Meetings.
  • Participates and facilitates Status Meetings, Integration Meetings, Program Meetings, Resource Planning meetings, and Project Management Office Meetings.
  • Ensures all required deliverables are completed at the end of a project.
  • Understands the dynamics of a project team and accommodate the motivating factors of project team members.
  • Captures retrospect and best practices as part of project closure to improve internal processes.
  • Partner with Release Management in managing execution of maintenance and enterprise releases.
  • Manages the client expectations and resource requirements for the project to ensure ownership and success.



Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate and/or organizational management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile

Education: BS/BA degree strongly preferred in IT or related field with a graduate level preferred. Project Management Certification highly desirable.

Preferred Certifications -

Project Management Professional (PMP); Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certification v3, Infrastructure Industry Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, HP, Security

Experience:

  • 8-10 year's work experience in an IT position with emphases on the following skill set
    • Broad base understanding and knowledge of IT Infrastructure
    • Extensive experience in Project Management
    • Vendor management
