Specific Job Summary (describe the nature and purpose of the position)
As a member of MVW Global Fire and Life Safety, the Senior Manager is responsible for insuring compliance of fire protection standards for all MVW properties includes new build construction projects, renovations, and conversions globally, in order to provide a superior level of life safety and protection to our guests, associates, and assets from the perils of fire, natural disasters, and terrorism.
The Senior Manager directs the work of Global Fire and Life Safety associates, engaged in the inspection and audits of resorts and properties and oversees the daily operation of the Department under the direction of the Associate Director. The Senior Manager is also responsible for reporting high-level fire protection/life safety deficiencies to the Associate Director of Global Fire and Life Safety. This position supports the Global Safety and Security of the Company.
This position is responsible for supporting all sites within the assigned brand, and for all regions.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)
Business Acumen
- Make decisions for complex fire protection and life safety issues and when necessary, refers to other members within Global Fire and Life Safety and if necessary, obtain latest information from outside experts.
- Partner with all other departments to ensure health and safety measures are followed onsite.
- Liaise with site Finance and Resort Operations leadership on the priority of projects, based on the site’s accounting guidelines and deliverables for Fire and Life Safety.
- Responsible for GFLS budget – assist with managing the overall department costs and partner with the Associate Director to ensure that cost allocations to other departments.
Analysis & Reporting
- Validates the Global Fire and Life Safety Program Audit.
- Assess the results of the audit and inspection reports, and the action plan created during resorts inspection and provide further direction as required.
- Reviews, offers solutions, and provides support for incident resolution, mitigation and promotes prevention.
- Responsible for monitoring trends in GFLS industry and provide preventative measures.
- Annual review the results of re-vetting of GFLS and identifying opportunities of improvement.
Fire and Life Safety Operations
- Prepares and provides guidelines for the associates to educate and train the resorts associates.
- Ensures proper follow up is provided by Global Fire and Life Safety associates to the resorts.
- Provide oversight and leadership to site engineers, Safety and Security, Managers of these disciplines, as well as Resort Executives / Department Heads.
- Review the previous year’s inspection and audits and
- Provides direction to coordinate the level of inspection and/or audit for each assigned property. Reviews and approves the calendar schedule for each property and ensures that the resorts receives instructions for preparedness and pre-inspection/audit webinars are scheduled with each property, following department policy and continue follow up with the property status progress throughout the year.
- Oversees the review status of the action plans for fire inspection reports and audits for compliance, completion due dates and provide the necessary feedback to the Manager and Supervisors to assist the resorts to ensure all required items and completed in a timely manner.
- provide support to Manager and Supervisors to assist the resort with detailed directions when a requisition for due date extension is submitted and consult with the Associate Director of Fire and Life Safety when necessary.
- In the team leader capacity, the Senior Manager will conduct final inspections on specified resort projects, fire alarm systems, barbecues, shade structures, etc., and provide approvals without immediate supervision as required.
- Ensures that fire inspections at assigned properties are conducted in compliance to applicable fire codes and corporate standards.
- Responsible that high-quality inspection services to properties within inspection program are conducted.
- Monitor Fire and Life Safety customer satisfaction following the completion of onsite projects, and take personal responsibility to ensure it.
- Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department, and business results.
- Supervise and manage Fire Protection Vendors for maximum results and manage costs.
- Work with Fire Protection Vendors to prepare, review, obtain and renew Master Service Agreements for national level accounts.
Compliance for Safety and Security across all Brands
- Demonstrates understanding of company safety and security policies across all brands.
- Prepares plan to bring all Brands to a Brand Neutral Fire and Life Safety Standards
- Evaluates existing Fire codes and standards existing and assist with plans to ensure all locations are or will be meetings latest safety codes and standards.
- Ensure the Fire and Life Safety team works toward insuring compliance with Fire Codes, Standards, and Regulations, including both local, State and Federal Laws.
- Assist all departments with questions and concerns related to Fire and Life Safety, the Engineering Baseline Assessment, and the Security Audit.
- Partners with both Engineering and Global Safety and Security leadership to ensure that the cross-functional safety measures are in alignment.
People Management
- Direct the work of the Global Fire and Life Safety associates and coordinate their activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of associate employees on the job site.
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Provides feedback to associates, supervisors, Manager and the Associate Director of Global Fire and Life Safety in support of the team’s growth and development.
- Identifies associate’s development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
- Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Manage and approves payroll and associates relates requests.
Training for Safety and Security across all Brands
- Prepares safety and security related training materials to present to the GFLS associates trainers, and reviews performance.
- Assists with establishing emergency response training objectives for GFLS inspectors, corporate partners, resort associates and executives at various levels.

- The Senior Manager will support the distribution of information and instructions in the operation and maintenance of systems to the resort engineers; and supports the necessary training on the programs, systems records keeping requirements to new and existing Engineering/ Safety and Security associates, supervisors and managers. This will include records, forms, logs and electronic report and audit generating systems e.g. Rizepoint.
- Responsible for explaining fire protection concepts at all levels, and enforce standards while strengthening relationships, occasionally under pressure, and train associates in the operations of life safety systems and procedures.

- Fire Inspector II Certification from accredited entity
- Fire Inspector III Certification from accredited entity
Experience
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience working at a Fire Department progressing through the ranks.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports is required.
- Timeshare /Hospitality/lodging industry experience a plus. MVW or Hyatt-specific knowledge, an advantage.
- Proven experience and knowledge of emerging technologies, national codes and best methods for automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, life safety, and smoke control.
Skills/Attributes
- Thorough understanding and ability to interpret the Fire Prevention Codes and Standards; and the ability to apply fire safety codes and standards; and to effectively enforce all regulations.
