Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized Accounting and Finance knowledge and skill to support team and/or department objectives.

Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines.

This role is responsible for the ancillary accounts receivable teams and cash management team for the VSE, Hyatt, and MVW brands.  

Specific Job Summary

The Senior Operations Accounting Manager is responsible for directing the completion of accurate site accounting as it relates to Accounts Receivable Systems, Cash Management, and the related journal entries, and account reconciliations, as well as business partnering with related teams. The Senior Accounting Manager provides analysis of accounting data to senior management including but not limited to Site DOF's, RDOF's, Finance VPs, Corporate VP's etc.  This role is responsible for leading a team to complete departmental goals with regular deliverables.

    • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.
    • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
    • Performs other duties as appropriate.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Oversees the billing and application of payment for VSE, MVW, and HVO ancillary invoices

  • Reviews reconciliations of various Balance Sheet accounts on a period basis.

  • Reviews reconciliations of various Balance Sheet accounts on a period basis.
  • Manages and completes various special projects that involve all areas of accounting and other functional departments.
  • Prepares, reviews, and communicates financial and other information to senior management, including VP's and Senior Directors in M&S and Accounting Services.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains policies and procedures.
  • Reviews financial data to ensure it is in compliance with MVW's policies and procedures.
  • Prepares audit work papers. Works with auditors, both internal and external.
  • Promotes employee morale; develops good working relationships with other departments for greater efficiencies and synergy

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
     

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Accounting with demonstrated supervisory skills.

Skills/Attributes

  • Ability to work under pressure in deadline-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks and staff persons.
  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to effectively report to senior management in a verbal and written format.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Peoplesoft, Property Management Systems, Squirrel (F&B POS), RCC, Marriott Digital Office (MDO) experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in PC-based applications, including Excel and Word.
