Position Summary 

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision-making process. 

Specific Job Summary 

This role is a key contributor to the success of all project deliveries for IT business systems. This role partners with Project Manager Office (PMO), Developers and Engineers to provide guidance, oversight and compliance requirements for all approved projects that are deployed to production. Oversees and provides guidance to contractor(s) and vendors to ensure expected deliverables and timeline are met. Reviews and Audits the execution of all releases to ensure they are in accordance to MVW and industry standards to include SOX and PCI. 

Overall responsibility for ensuring that all releases are planned and deployed to live environments according to established/approved procedures. Authors the deployment plans and facilitates all deployments with project and/or production support teams to carry them out. 

Expected Contributions 

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis and design for business processes and/or projects.
  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine product support requests with limited to moderate risk.
  • Will be required to coordinate with Project and Release Management for the deployment of code into test or production.
  • May be required to coordinate with Project Management and test during integration and system test.
  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

- identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of product lifecycle processes.

-providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.

-participating in setting department operating plans.

- recognizing and celebrating team successes.

- achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

Specific Expected Contributions

Key Accountabilities:

  • Partner with Change Management for the changes included in the monthly application maintenance releases.
  • Reduce risk and systems outages by evaluating all requested release schedules for potential conflict and impact.
  • Schedule, facilitate and oversee urgent change releases.
  • Lead and coordinate IT and Business teams for all MVW Releases
  • Design, review and implement MVW internal policies.
  • Design, document and publish deployment plans.
  • Schedule and facilitate and oversee urgent change releases.
  • Send release notifications to inform of forward release schedule and active release status.
  • Engage support teams to escalate release related issues and conflicts.
  • Engage the Service Desk to gather incidents and problems during a deployment window.
  • Create and maintain required documentation related to PCI and SOX audits.
  • Respond to SOX quarterly self-assessments and the SOX audit.
  • Support PCI audit controls for Release Management.
  • Create, maintain, and publish metrics for the entire Application Support team to include incident response, development activity, and release.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of any new Release Management tools and any updates required to the existing tool suite. This includes but is not limited to Cherwell Service Manager and ALM.
  • Develop and facilitate training on Release Management policies and procedures. 

Major Decision-Making Impact:

  • Ensures compliance of all development products and services with Marriott Vacation Worldwide' s Release Management policies and procedures for all MVW service lines.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: 

Generally, this is a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in integrated applications. College degree or technical certification or relevant experience generally required.

BS/BA degree, technical certification, or equivalent work experience

ITIL Certification, PMP preferred


  • 6-8 years relevant work experience

  • Agile learning style, with aptitude for quick pickup of technical material with limited documentation and training
  • Analytical ability to move in a fast-paced environment
