JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Activities Supervisor / Pool Leader

DEPARTMENT: ACTIVITIES AND POOL & SPA

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Activities Manager

Supervises: Animators, Sunbed Attendants, Lifeguards

Interfaces with: Guests, Department Heads, Associates, and suppliers.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

To supervise the animators, and ensure that the daily activities program runs according to plan, and that the quality of the activities meets the expectations of our guests. Additionally the Activities Supervisor should support the Activities Manager in his/her daily tasks.

The Activities Supervisor / Pool Pleaser will be focus in Resort Experience scores, specially by pool & beach areas: supervision of sun beds occupation processes, coordinate life guards duties, supervise cleaning of the area.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Should have experience conducting fitness classes.
  • Lifeguard certification is a must
  • Certificate "Antecedentes de delitos sexuales" is a must
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Computer literacy and organization skills.
  • Professional experience in similar related fields; activities, events, etc.
  • Should have lived in the area over 5 years with relationships and experience in the local leisure and tourism industry.
  • Creative thinking.
  • Good physical shape.
  • First aid course, with valid certificate

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct all types of resort activities, including supervision of the Kid's Club, fitness classes, cultural classes, and social classes
  • Monitoring daily activity distribution list for the team, ensuring proper coverage to run leisure activities.
  • Researching new activities (internal and external) for guests, includes meeting with external providers.
  • Organizing parties and events at resort as required.
  • Training department associates on a group basis to run activities with guests.
  • To maintain and up date a relevant 15 minute training plan for each month.
  • Checking that safety and hygiene standards are maintained and equipment is sufficient in all recreation areas -- involves physically checking all areas.
  • Checking that first aid supplies are adequate at all times.
  • Performing Duty Manager shifts on a seasonal basis
  • Coordinate and conduct outdoor maintenance work.
  • Ensure that operating supplies are adequate at all times.
  • Motivate and drive team spirit.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide assistance to all departments if staffing levels require.
  • To perform all reasonable tasks as required by Resort Management and business demands.
  • Create staff schedule when Activities Manager request it

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENT.

  • Should be able to conduct several high intensity activities during one shift.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling and stooping, lifting up to 10kg, climbing ladders and up to 5 floors of stairs
  • Good visual observation.
  • Resistance to inclement weather conditions (heat and humidity)
  • Calm and cool temper, excellent command of stress in cases of emergency
  • Should be able to work in direct sunlight for longer periods of time

OTHER:

  • Perform all tasks in a timely manner ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Comply with MVCI and Marriott International polices and procedures.
  • Be proactive and have a flexible approach to work, meeting the needs of the team and the business at all times.
  • Maintain an attitude and commitment to provide excellent service to all customers and associates. Respond sensitively to the needs and feelings of others, regardless of status or position; accept interpersonal differences and maintain a constructive rapport with all associates and customers.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all Vacation Club product lines.
  • Maintain computer systems knowledge (MS Office, email etc)
  • Work with all MVC colleagues as a team, supporting the needs within that team and those of the business at all times
